3 SLAB WALNUT TABLE TOP , No Base . price - sold
Have your Interior Designer create a base to your liking.
This beauty is the last of the "available walnut slabs" and the last table from this particular tree. There were wider boards, but they just didn't have the character of these finds. After this one, there won't be any more unless another tree find comes available.
The graining is absolutely stunning, and that is a understatement.
No Base is being offered with this one. It allows the pricing to be lessened but also many designers want to come up with solutions to compliment your decor, or maybe you have your own ideas? Log legs? Steel? I'm showing a composite base that could be fabric covered.
The Walnut is not perfect and has knots, surface flaws and unevenness. It's the nature of rustic to be that way. it has 3 coats of epoxy sanded and then top coated with 7 coats of polyurethane, and sanding between coats. Final finish was done with #0000 steel wool and a pumice powder rub down for a satin finish. If you go to the "Projects" section, you can also see the underside metal framing which is 1 1/2" tube steel with lag bolts.
The Walnut Leaf is encased in epoxy, and top coated with gloss polyurethane, so it can be seen..even from the side.
A nice detail !
Dimensions are 71" x 44" and 1 3/8" thick . It easily seats 6, and 8 in a pinch.
ENJOY!

Cherry Burn-pile Burnt Gryphon. (wall hanging) price: $1650.oo
A wood cutter friend in Tennessee saw a huge Cherry Root being burned in a burn pile. This man has a God given eye for seeing beauty in even the Gnarliest Nastiest pieces of wood and knows how to set up and cut slabs to display their glory. So he took the wood from the burn pile and salvaged it. He has large stacks cut for me to choose from.
This was a smaller piece so I opted to use it.
I call this the Cherry Gryphon, because after finishing I saw a bird like head , but the body of the piece wasn't bird like. Knowing I've seen that look before, and doing some digging, it mimics a Gryphon. Bird head, Lion body.
Of course this Gryphon was badly burnt, but none the less...the name stuck.
I inset a 2011 penny in the birds eye-socket , to denote the approximate cut date of the tree. Take a look! The head shot photo was taken after 2 epoxy coats.
Wood is Cherry, with a very rich reddish color like I've never seen before. It is backed up with 1/2" plywood for stability.
Coatings are 2 layers of epoxy and then sanded . Next was 4 coats of semi-gloss polyurethane. The surface isn't pristine smooth and has some surface pitting, but it fits with the look quite well.
Dimensions are 40" x 17" x 2.5" thick. (including the plywood backing)

WOOD SHARK! Contemporary/Catalpa/Chrome coffee table/bench $1475.oo
Catalpa flame torched pedestal with wood nugget $225.oo(unavailable)
We call this the Wood Shark since when this table/bench (you choose) was done, the head end actually had a shark like appearance. Totally unplanned ! Design is Contemporary /Rustic!
This is made with a 4" thick slab of Catalpa with bark left on. The bark actually turns a 93 degree corner and fades away at the floor. It's soft wood , so to toughen it up and hold the bark on we epoxy coated the table/bench with 2 coats of epoxy. Then we sanded it and added 6 coats of w/b polyurethane in a satin finish. Top surface was sanded and hand rubbed to a satin smooth finish.
Dimensions are: 47" long x 13" wide , down to 9" wide at thinnest point x 16" tall. Good for coffee or sitting. The piece measures ~4" in thickness.
The Pedestal was torched with a flame thrower while still in chainsaw cut condition. Then coated with 6 coats of polyurethane. I added a wood knot that had a nugget inside. Height is 31" tall w/o nugget (I call it a wood geode)
